The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts Sciences at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY seeks to fill a tenure-eligible faculty position at the Assistant Professor level within the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program. This is a 9-month position in the regular title series with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025. We seek an applicant who identifies professionally as a Clinical Neuropsychologist and/or Clinical Neuroscientist, with expertise in neuroscience methodologies (e.g., neuroimaging, fluid biomarkers, and other advanced neuroscientific research methods). The successful candidate will conduct research that fosters collaboration with both our clinical and neuroscience faculty. Our department has a Clinical Neuropsychology concentration, designed in alignment with the Houston Conference Guidelines; and a Cognitive Neuroscience area, inclusive of faculty members with clinically focused research programs (e.g., substance use, sleep). The Clinical Program is APA- and PCSAS-accredited and follows a clinical scientist training model. The clinical research focus of the position is open but may include areas of current expertise within our department and university (e.g., brain injury, Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, substance use, affective disorders, ADHD) or new areas of clinical research. Areas of focus may include, but are not limited to, those that fit within the University of Kentucky’s Research Priority Areas including substance use, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity, and neuroscience. Candidates should have a strong research program, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, and clinical practice interests that align with or augment existing training areas. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching and service mission of the department, and be prepared to teach undergraduate courses and graduate courses in the Clinical Program and provide clinical supervision to our graduate students.
A PhD in Clinical Psychology is required. The successful candidate will have earned their doctoral degree from an APA-, CPA-, and/or PCSAS-accredited Clinical or Counseling Psychology program, have completed an APA- or CPA-accredited internship, and be licensed or license-eligible in Kentucky.
At the University of Kentucky, Clinical Psychologists regularly lead multidisciplinary research teams and recruit research participants from a variety of clinical settings, including the Psychiatry Department, Markey Cancer Center, Kentucky Clinic, Gill Heart and Vascular Institute, Kentucky Neuroscience Institute, Eastern State Hospital and Sanders-Brown Center on Aging. The University of Kentucky also has the Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center and the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS), offering multiple areas of research support and infrastructure (e.g., biomarker analysis, outpatient clinical research unit). The UK Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy Center (MRISC) allows for structural and functional neuroimaging via a Siemens PRISMA 3T MRI scanner.
