JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Psychological and Cognitive Sciences Program at WPI seeks a one-year visiting appointment at the rank of assistant professor, beginning on July 1, 2023. The position is ideal for candidates with a Ph.D in psychology (clinical or counseling psychology preferred) who have a strong commitment to teaching and an active research program that can engage undergraduates from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will be able to teach a variety of courses including introduction to psychology, and topics in their specialty. In particular, we are seeking candidates who can teach mental health and wellbeing related topics. The candidate will also be expected to work with undergraduates in senior theses (or Major Qualifying Projects). The teaching load is one course per term for three or four terms along with student research project advising.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job responsibilities:
The visiting assistant professor of psychology will:
- teach courses in psychological sciences
- engage undergraduates in research projects including Major Qualifying Projects
- engage with and collaborate with the other faculty in the Psychological and Cognitive Sciences Program
- participate in initiatives conducted by the Social Science & Policy Studies Department
Qualifications:
- Ph.D in Psychology
- Preferred academic focus in mental health
- Successful classroom teaching at the undergraduate level
- Ability to engage undergraduates in research
