CLASS department is looking for an Assistant Professor in Design. A successful candidate will teach classes within the field of design studies, theory, and/or studio and conduct relevant related research. Additional expertise in technical communication, social sciences, science and technology or related field is strongly desired. The teaching load is a 3-3, including both upper division classes and general education courses, including within the applicant’s specialty area, with research and service expectations. The position begins August 1, 2023.
Combination of a PhD, or similar terminal degree, with the ability to teach college-level design courses. Preference will be given to those able to engage with the overall mission of New Mexico Tech and, at least partly, with the CLASS department’s long-term strategic plans to combine social science, communication, humanities, and the arts with the STEM fields, such as within user experience research, product design, and/or existing programs in technical communication and psychology. Communication, Liberal Arts, and Social Sciences is a vibrant multidisciplinary department of scholars from Technical Communication, Science & Technology Studies, Graphic Design, Social Media/Film Studies, Psychology, Education, Philosophy, Spanish, History, and Composition Studies.
