The Department of Psychology has three doctoral programs. Clinical Psychology and Counseling Psychology are accredited by the American Psychological Association, and we also have a Behavioral Science program.
The Department of Psychology invites applications for the position of Chair to begin August 2020. The department seeks a dynamic leader who will build upon a strong Ph.D. program, continue to develop a growing undergraduate program, and increase support for successful programs in Clinical, Counseling, and Behavioral Psychology. The Department Chair is a full-time, twelve-month position tenured at the rank of Professor. The duties of the Department Chair include promoting and aiding scholarly research among department faculty, navigating distribution of resources and priorities across the doctoral programs, growing the reputation of our doctoral programs, fostering honest and open discussions regarding diversity issues, and cultivating an inclusive, positive and growth-enhancing work/learning environment for faculty, staff, and students in the department. The department chair is also expected to develop critical relationships with stakeholders across UNT and at other institutions, continue to be involved and productive in research, and serve on or chair committees at various institutional levels. The successful candidate must also have demonstrated effective leadership and administrative experience as chair of a department with a doctoral program or directing a psychology doctoral program.
The position requires a Ph.D. in Psychology or closely related field. Candidates are expected to have a sustained, exemplary record of scholarship and teaching that would meet the requirements for holding the rank of Professor at UNT. The candidate must also have demonstrated leadership and administrative ability as chair of a department with a doctoral program or directing a psychology doctoral program.
Preferred qualifications include a sustained, exemplary record of scholarship and external grant funding.
