Primary Purpose of Position
This is a 9-month, tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The faculty member will be responsible for continuously publishing in quality peer reviewed journals while developing and delivering quality course content in economics at the undergraduate and MBA levels both on campus and online. Preference will be given to candidates with research and teaching interests in macroeconomics but applications from other disciplines will be considered. Continuous professional involvement, department, college and university service are also expected.
Faculty in the department regularly publish in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, obtain external grant funding, and provide discipline-related service to the university and community. The department expects its faculty to be active researchers and engaged, high-quality educators.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Economics is one of five academic departments in the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T State University, located in Greensboro, NC. North Carolina A&T State University is an 1890 land-grant doctoral research institution committed to exemplary teaching and learning, scholarly and creative research, and effective engagement and public service.
The Department of Economics currently enrolls approximately 100 majors and offers three undergraduate B.S. degrees: an economics degree with an open (general) concentration, one with a concentration in business, and one with a concentration in law. The general economics degree includes ten electives, making it attractive to students who want to combine economics with specializations in other fields. The Economics- Business concentration is an AACSB-accredited program; the College has been accredited by AACSB International since 1979. The Department currently has 12 faculty, all of whom hold terminal degrees.
The position requires an earned doctorate in Economics or Applied Economics by the anticipated date of appointment and demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and research appropriate to the level of appointment.
