The Department of Psychology at Morgan State University invites applications for a 9.5 month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant with a start date of August 12, 2020.
Interested candidates will be expected to teach existing courses and develop new courses in her/his area of specialization. Undergraduate courses include Cognitive Psychology, Psychology of Learning and select courses in research methods and statistics; courses may also include General Psychology and Developmental Psychology. Graduate courses in human development, introductory advanced statistics and may include courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. Responsibilities also include developing on-line courses and conducting research with undergraduate and graduate students; academic advisement of students, and contribution to the department through research, publications and service.
The Department of Psychology is located in the new Jenkins Behavioral Social Science Center. The department has research facilities available to faculty and students including laboratories in cognition, psychophysiology, psychometrics, animal research facility, and observational facilities for social and developmental research.
Requested Minimum Qualifications
The successful Candidate must have a PhD in Cognition, Cognitive Development, Applied Developmental Psychology or a related field of psychology from an accredited university. A minimum of two years of experience as an instructor of record is required. All But Dissertation (ABD) candidates will be given consideration.
Other Preferences for Consideration
Preference will be given to candidates who meet the minimum qualifications with post-doctoral experiences and a strong background in quantitative and experimental methods.
Applicants should demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in teaching, scholarly research and publication, and mentoring undergraduate students. Candidates will be expected to teach primarily in the Undergraduate Program, with occasional teaching in the Graduate Program in Psychometrics Additionally, candidates will be expected to supervise and mentor undergraduate students and contribute to the development of on-line courses.
