The Interdisciplinary Lab for Social Development (https://publish.illinois.edu/socialdevlab/) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is currently seeking a postdoctoral scholar to work on NIH-funded studies of infant brain and behavioral development during the first years of life. We are investigating infants’ developing stress regulatory capacities in the context of interactions with parents, and the extent to which early caregiving experiences shape the organization of large-scale brain networks. We use an array of methods, including direct behavioral observations of parent-infant interactions, ambulatory assessments in the home via a wearable device, psychophysiology (ECG), and structural and functional neuroimaging (rs-fMRI). We seek candidates with experience in one or more of these methods and who have interests in bridging behavioral, physiological and/or neural levels of analysis. The postdoc will join a highly interdisciplinary team that brings together expertise in developmental psychology, neuroscience, bioengineering, electrical and computer engineering, and computer science. This position will provide opportunities for professional development and mentorship, and the postdoctoral scholar will play a central role in data analyses, preparing conference presentations and manuscripts, and assisting with general project management.

Position qualifications include a Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, statistics/data science, or related fields. We seek candidates with a record of conference presentations and/or scholarly publications, experience with advanced quantitative methods, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.

The position is for 2 years (annual salary: $47,500, plus moving expenses and a small budget for research expenses), with additional years contingent on funding. The position will begin in late summer or fall of 2020 (start date is negotiable). Please send a cover letter, CV, and contact information for three references to Dr. Nancy McElwain at mcelwn@illinois.edu. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
