Primary Purpose of Position
The successful candidate is expected to teach introductory and advanced level courses in criminal justice, including criminology and research methods. Additional duties will include, but are not limited to, academic advising of criminal justice students and criminal justice organizations, participating in program development and assessment. The candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in the department and university.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Criminal Justice invites applications for Part-Time Instructors. Part-Time Instructors are hired on a semester-by-semester basis to teach Criminal Justice courses. The maximum teaching load is four courses per semester. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: teaching face-to-face and/or online and attending training and/or review sessions. The Department of Criminal Justice currently has 4 full-time faculty members. The department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a certification in Crime Scene Investigation
Minimum Requirements
Candidates should have a J.D. or a Master’s Degree or other related degree in Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice Administration, Criminology, Political Science, or related fields.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Demonstrated excellence in teaching diverse populations, evidence of an active knowledge and two years’ experience teaching Criminal Justice / Crime Scene Investigation courses.
