Position Summary:
The Department of Culture, Society, and Justice at the University of Idaho invites applications for a clinical non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August of 2024. The successful candidate will contribute to the Departments program in criminology. All areas of specialization will be considered, but we are particularly seeking areas that complement our current course offerings and department strengths. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two or more of the core service courses offered in our new Master of Sciences degree in criminology and our undergraduate degree program in criminology (e.g., Introduction to Criminology, Justice Institutions, Criminological Theory, Research Methods in Criminology, and/or Justice Policy Issues). Faculty are also encouraged to teach in their specialty areas within criminology. The standard teaching load is a 3/4 (seven classes per academic year).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in criminology, criminal justice, law & society, or a closely related field (a JD does not meet the minimum educational requirements for this position);
  • Experience developing and/or teaching criminology courses.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching online courses;
  • Experience contributing to a diverse and inclusive academic community;
  • Record of departmental, college, and/or university service participation.
