The University at Buffalo, School of Social Work is recruiting for a Clinical Professor (Open-Rank/Field Education) in the Field Education Department. The Field Education Department is responsible for overseeing MSW students’ field placements with social work agencies in order to ensure the successful preparation of diverse graduates for social work practice. Our field education team consists of three faculty and one staff member who are MSW prepared, an administrative field coordinator, and 18 part-time faculty. The department places approximately 450 MSW students in field placements annually, including online MSW students.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities
  • Working collaboratively with the field education department to ensure quality field experiences that enable students to meet required competencies, and adhere to accreditation standards.
  • Developing and implementing field education curriculum (including teaching field-related courses).
  • Assigning students to field placement through student meetings and use of software and other technology record keeping and tracking of data related to individual placement.
  • Identifying and developing new field placement sites, with attention to innovative models, and new, creative approaches to social work field education, including field placements with an enhanced curricular focus.
  • Developing written and digital educational materials for the field course education for students and the wider field community.
  • Participating in MSW curriculum development, scholarship, and creative knowledge development, and fulfilling other faculty responsibilities.

The School of Social Work offers a master’s degree and two doctoral degrees. Nationally ranked within the top 25 accredited social work programs, we enroll over 600 students and offer the MSW degree, online MSW degree, PhD degree, online DSW degree, and BA/MSW, JD/MSW, MBA/MSW, MPH/MSW and MSW/PhD combined degree programs. The MSW and DSW programs have unique and exciting curricula that integrate trauma-informed care and human rights perspectives. The Buffalo Center for Social Research (BCSR) is housed within the School of Social Work and provides faculty support in pursuing external funding.
