My research and teaching interests are in the areas of developmental psychopathology, family systems, and risk and resilient processes in children with early-identified developmental risk. My work has primarily focused on families of children born preterm and children with global developmental delays. Specifically, I am examining: (1) how developmental risk affects different aspects of the family, including parental stress and wellbeing, parenting processes, parent-child relationships, and family interactions; (2) how developmental risk affects child social emotional processes and development of comorbid psychopathology; and (3) how the connections between familial processes and child social emotional development are affected by risk. I am particularly interested in using observational data with families of children with developmental risk, and my research spans from the transition to parenthood to the transition to elementary school.
