  • Dr. Bernard’s work seeks to understand how the cerebellum contributes to both motor and cognitive behavior. During her graduate work with Dr. Rachael Seidler at the University of Michigan, she investigated how changes in cerebellar structure and networks with the rest of the brain contribute to the motor and cognitive declines seen in healthy aging. During her work as a post-doctoral fellow with Dr. Vijay Mittal, she translated her cerebellar methods into clinical populations working with youth at ultra high-risk for psychosis. Dr. Bernard’s work is currently funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation. At Texas A&M, Dr. Bernard is excited to move back into aging research, where she will combine neuroimaging methods with both behavioral and non-invasive brain stimulation techniques to better understand the aging mind and brain.
