Chris’s scholarly interests center around participatory action research methods and community practice strategies, with a specific focus on community organizing and capacity building within historically oppressed and emerging marginalized communities. He is also interested in the application of critical pedagogical frameworks within social work, specifically as conceptualized through the work of Myles Horton and Paulo Freire. Chris's current work is focused on the application of participatory action research methods with refugees from Burma who have resettled in the United States, with a particular interest in community building and community organizing strategies.
