Position Title/Rank: Environmental Geography (File #0900888)
Faculty: University of Toronto -- Scarborough

The Department of Social Sciences at the University of Toronto -- Scarborough, invites applications for a full-time, Tenure-stream Position in Environmental Geography.

The position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will commence July 1, 2010.

Candidates whose research examines issues at the interface of Political Ecology and Environmental Justice are particularly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach large introductory (first or second year) and senior Undergraduate (third or fourth year) courses on Environmental Geography in the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Toronto -- Scarborough.

The successful candidates must have a Ph.D. by the time of appointment or be very close to completion and must demonstrate excellence in teaching and research.

The University of Toronto -- Scarborough is a research-intensive Institution, with a commitment to interdisciplinary approaches. We serve a multicultural student body on a modern and spacious campus. The University of Toronto offers opportunities to conduct research, teach and live in one of the most diverse cities in the world and to work in a range of collaborative Programs and Centres of Research.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Graduate Department of Geography, University of Toronto, will be expected to teach in a Graduate Program at the downtown campus and will be expected to develop an independently funded program of research. The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to participate in developing new Graduate Programs at Scarborough.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
