Role Summary The Department of Government and Society seeks to make an appointment to the position of Associate Professor in Sociology. The position will be of interest to those with long expertise in the area of Applied Sociology and data analysis, with special focus on Medical Sociology. The role holder will be a member of The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS). They will be a recognized authority in their field, developing and maintaining a high-profile external profile and will become a leading member of a dynamic, cutting edge research culture, having access to the excellent research facilities which UAEU offers. They will be expected to lead on advanced, internationally excellent research, securing high impact research funding, to teach and to supervise at the undergraduate and graduate levels, to contribute to admissions, examining and assessment, and to contribute fully to academic administration in both the Department and the College. Key Responsibilities The successful candidates are expected to have extensive teaching experience, together with a significant publication record, proven research experience and to have demonstrated academic leadership and an ability to lead and manage effectively. The broad balance of duties for Professors (at all levels) includes Teaching, Supervision and Examining (40%), Research (40%) and to contribute to the overall development of the College and Departmental profile as a world-leading provider of education, training and research of the highest academic standard (20%). Education & qualifications 1- Candidates must have a PhD in Sociology, with specialization in applied sociology and data analysis and special focus on Medical Sociology from a reputable university 2- Candidates should have an excellent expertise in teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses. 3- Duties involve teaching, conducting research, advising students and serving on dissertation committees. All teaching is delivered in English. Therefore, native English is required. The closing date for applications is [January 10th , 2024].
