The University of Delaware’s School of Public Policy and Administration (SPPA) has been identified by university leadership as a priority for growth and development. UD intends to build upon the School’s recognition as a comprehensive location of public affairs that integrates academic excellence with professional practice. The launch of our new Joseph R. Biden Institute will strengthen our role as a driving force in the understanding and analysis of consequential energy and environmental policy solutions. The creation of the Biden Institute, and the focus on energy and environmental policy, will strengthen our tradition of integrating academic excellence with professional practice.

With this mission in mind, the Energy and Environmental Policy (ENEP) Program within SPPA invites applicants to apply for a Assistant Professor continuing-track (CT) position with PhD or doctorate equivalent at the time of appointment. CT faculty members have full-time appointments, and are eligible for promotion in academic rank and sabbaticals; however, they are not eligible for tenure. The CT provides a pathway for experienced professionals, scholars with a specialized industry focus, or faculty who are interested in teaching and practice. Ideal applicants will have an interest in integrating knowledge from the natural sciences and social sciences to provide our students with a connectivity between society and policies focusing on energy and the environmental. Ideal applicants will also have teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels with demonstrable evidence of success.

The ENEP program is one of the oldest energy and environmental policy degree-granting programs worldwide. The program has a distinguished record of research accomplishments and successful U.S. and international alumni. We offer interdisciplinary undergraduate (BA) and graduate degrees (MEEP/PhD) and we seek candidates that will support our excellent teaching profile, which is informed by an applied research nexus. The primary focus for this positon is instruction, however, the applicant should also be interested in establishing research collaborations with various other units on campus that have environmental research interests (The Delaware Environment Institute web site ( provides a synthesis of various environmental research opportunities across campus.
