The College of Islamic Studies (CIS) was established as a home for contemporary Islamic studies and to provide a hub for exceptional faculty and students to enter into a dialogue about their thoughts and ideas concerning Islam and Muslims. It offers five postgraduate degree programs and also houses several distinguished research centers that bring together scholars and thought leaders from around the world. CIS is inviting applications and nominations for vacant positions at all academic levels (Assistant Professor, Associate Professors and Professors).
The ideal candidates must be able to teach, conduct, and supervise MS and PhD research in the following areas of Islamic finance and economy.
Quantitative Finance, Applied Econometrics and Research Methods with applications to Islamic Finance and Economy
Islamic Entrepreneurship, Business Strategy and Sustainability with emphasis to responsible and impactful enterprises
Islamic Asset Management and Digital Finance
All candidates are required to contribute, through teaching, research and service, to HBKU becoming a world-class research university. They are expected to collaborate with other faculty members and students to create a vibrant university community.
Required Qualifications & Skills for all faculty positions
PhD or terminal degree from an accredited university as required for teaching in certain fields
Evidence of proficiency in teaching, student supervision, and curriculum and program development
Research and scholarly achievements judged competent and adequate for the rank of Professor in comparison with peers active in the same field at major research university
Significant national, regional, and international reputation in scholarly endeavors (funded research grants, publications, IP/patents, etc.) in comparison with peers active in the same field at a major research university
Ability to work with and lead diverse groups, cultures and communities
Evidence of significant national, regional, and international networks and collaborations in both teaching and research activities
Arabic proficiency an advantage
