Clinical Psychology Faculty Positions
Available Fall 2017-2018

About the DI:
The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) seeks applications for faculty positions at different academic ranks for its newly established Masters of Science program in Psychology. We seek Clinical Psychologists from a broad range of specializations, but preference will be given to those whose work focuses on culture, community intervention, and women and children.

Founded in Doha, Qatar and launching its first academic year in 2015-2016, the DI is a non-profit and independent institute that responds to the needs of the Arab region by integrating graduate teaching and learning with scientific research in the fields of Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Humanities, Public Administration and Development Economics. The DI is licensed as a national institution of higher education by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar.

The mission of the Psychology program is "to train world-class academics through equipping students with a strong research foundation and the professional skills necessary to understand human behavior and to apply new knowledge, tools, and research to the solution of individual, societal, and organizational problems, particularly in Qatar and the Arab region. It also seeks to raise the level and quality of Arab scholarly contributions to the field of psychology and to prepare graduates for the unique challenges associated with today’s increasingly global, diverse, and shifting societies."

Required Qualifications:
Applicants for all positions must have earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, have one or more years of internship and practice, the capacity to teach at the graduate level and in Arabic, have published scholarly work in refereed peer-reviewed journals commensurate with his/her academic rank, and a demonstrated ability to conduct research and offer services in diverse communities.

The successful applicants should be able to teach in a minimum of two substantive areas: statistics, research methods, ethics, psychopathology (child or adult), clinical assessment, biological bases of psychopathology (neuropsychology), and clinical intervention, as well as more specialized courses in culture, community development, and/or special populations (due to war, poverty, or displacement). Applicants also should serve in intra and inter disciplinary teaching, research, and related activities, such as academic advisement, field instructions, and supervision of students’ capstone projects.

How to Apply
Applications should include: (1) a letter of application; (2) a curriculum vitae; (3) a statement of teaching philosophy; (4) a research statement; (5) evidence of teaching effectiveness (syllabi, student evaluations, etc.); and (6) three names of senior faculty who can provide letters of reference.
