About the opportunity
The Department of Media and Communications is based in the School of Literature, Art and Media (SLAM) in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). Our academics hold qualifications in a range of disciplinary fields and teach our students to reflect on all aspects of media and communications.

The Bachelor of Arts /Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Media and Communications) introduces students to the professional requirements of the 'real world' media environment they will be working in, which include communication and audience knowledge, personal branding, attention to ethical standards, high quality production values, and social media practices. The course provides students with an introduction to key media production skills such as photography, audio recording and design, video production, non-linear time based editing, photo manipulation, design principles and online/social/mobile media interaction and participation principles using state of the art radio production facilities, audio recorders, and audio hosting services.
As an academic with media industry experience and a strong understanding of audio and video production (reporting to the Chair of the Department), you will contribute to academic teaching in the Bachelor of Arts /Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Media and Communications), research and administration in the Department of Media and Communications.

•     presenting, producing and teaching live and pre-produced radio formats and podcasting
•     using and teaching a variety of digital production, softwares and distribution platforms
•     teaching audience development for radio and online audio formats
•     understanding of broadcast law and online content regulation.
