POSITION AVAILABILITY: The Department of Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) in the College of Human Sciences at Auburn University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate rank in the area of Family Science to begin August 16, 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES: We are seeking candidates whose research emphasizes innovative relationship research using a family science lens, with a focus on relational dynamics, development, and outcomes. Preference is for an emphasis on the study of adult relationships (e.g., couples, coparenting) among minoritized populations, and on the adaptive functioning of adult relationships from psychological, social, cultural, and/or biological perspectives. Successful candidates are expected to maintain a productive, externally funded program of research in their area of focus. In addition, responsibilities include both undergraduate and graduate instruction, and service assignments. Applicants at the associate rank must show evidence of an active and externally funded program of research. Housed in an R1, land-grant institution, the HDFS department values both basic and applied research, as well as both quantitative and qualitative research methods, and expects candidates to demonstrate evidence of advanced research methods training and experience. The department also has a strong interest in hiring faculty who have demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion through lived experience, teaching proficiencies, and/or research interests.

THE DEPARTMENT: The HDFS Department includes 34 faculty members (19 full-time, tenure-track), and offers undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees in HDFS. Additional information about the Department can be found at http://www.humsci.auburn.edu/hdfs. Two early learning centers are associated with the Department, one on campus (http://humsci.auburn.edu/hdfs/centers/auelc.php) and one in the nearby city of Birmingham (https://www.harriselc.org/?cat=center). Both serve children and families in our state while functioning as research laboratories as well as learning sites for university students. The HDFS Department also administers the AU Marriage and Family Therapy Center.
