The Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development at Tufts University is seeking a part-time Lecturer in American Sign Language for Spring 2025 to teach, American Sign Language III. This class is a continuation of two introductory courses in American Sign Language offered at Tufts University.  Through class participation, Deaf and Deaf Blind community experiences, guest speakers, and presentations, students extend their signing skills. This class is taught face-to-face on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-7:15 pm. Office hours are from 3:30 to 4:30 on Thursday or by appointment. The ASL instruction team normally meets on Thursdays during office hours prior to class.

Qualifications

Expertise in American Sign Language required. Master’s degree in the field of college-level teaching ASL or a related field. Prior teaching experience as an instructor in higher education. ASLTA certification is preferred. candidates are encouraged to work towards their ASLTA certification within one year of hire.  Experience with ASL True Way ASL (TWA) curriculum is a plus.
