Assistant or Associate Director of Intercultural Affairs

Position Summary

The Assistant or Associate Director will work closely with the Director of Intercultural Affairs in achieving the mission and goals of the office. The Assistant or Associate Director will support programming and initiatives across all student populations, in collaboration with the Director, and will develop and implement training opportunities focusing on inclusivity and cultural competence for students and for student organizations as part of overarching student leadership development. The Assistant or Associate Director will also coordinate, with the Director, new and existing initiatives sponsored by the Office of Intercultural Affairs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide inclusivity, diversity, and related trainings to students and to student organizations, which may include leadership programs, retreats, and similar initiatives, in conjunction with the Director.


  • Advise student organization(s) as appropriate and relevant to the work of the Office of Intercultural Affairs.


  • Assist in overseeing the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service (MLK DOS), an annual day of service that involves community partners in on-campus and off-campus activities on the Martin Luther King holiday each January.


  • Provide outreach and direct service to underrepresented students.


  • Assist with monthly on-campus conversations or other talks sponsored or co-sponsored by the Office of Intercultural Affairs.


  • Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 3-5 years of experience working as advisor, counselor, mentor, with preference for experience working with college-age population


  • An understanding and appreciation of diversity and inclusion theory and practice; excellent judgment; understanding of personal and student development theory; commitment to the mission of Catholic higher education and an understanding of the accompanying values.


  • Excellent communication, both oral and written, as well as within social media platforms.


  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.


  • Ability to work collaboratively and to build consensus in working with others towards a common goal.


  • Ability to lead others and to serve as a role model for college students.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in related field preferred.

Occasional evening and weekend hours
