The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) invites applications for the full-time position of Administrative Coordinator for the Libraries, to start in summer 2017. This new position will report to the Dean of Libraries and will be based in Fleet Library. The Administrative Coordinator will perform a wide variety of complex administrative duties and be a logistical partner with the Dean of Libraries in a collaborative and nimble work environment.

The Coordinator will serve as the initial point of contact for internal and external divisional inquiries (in particular related to library spaces and use) and answer routine questions regarding standard policies and procedures. With attention to detail, the Coordinator will update and maintain confidential records and files as well as public facing environments (i.e. the library website and social media) to reflect accurate information. In addition the Coordinator Generates, maintains, and processes forms, documents, statistics, reports, minutes, and agendas. The Coordinator is responsible for management of the Dean’s dynamic calendar, the Library calendar, and coordinate and streamline the calendar and communication system(s). Finally, under direction of the Dean, the Coordinator oversees and maintains financial records, reports, and filing systems, orders office and general supplies, as needed, and coordinates and monitors divisional expenses.

The Dean of Libraries provides leadership for four academic units – the Fleet Library, the Edna Lawrence Nature Lab, the Writing Center, and Campus Exhibitions. The Library is being re-imagined as a laboratory and platform for creativity and seeks new team members who embrace these ideas and can build on them with us.

The RISD Library was founded in 1877 and is one of the oldest independent art college libraries in the country. The Library is centrally located in an award-winning adaptive reuse space on the first two floors of a former bank – the remainder of the building consists of student housing, dining facilities, and storage. The original banking hall serves as the library’s stunning main reading room. All of the library’s collections reside within the structure – a luxury that allows for resources to be available to the community at all times. To learn more visit:
