The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University (AU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Developmental Cognitive Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective August 1, 2018. Area of specialization is open and may include, but is not limited to, cognitive areas such as judgment and decision making, attention, language, memory, perception or disorders affecting cognitive capacities, at different developmental periods of the lifespan. Applicants with demonstrated innovative methodological and quantitative skills will be given preference. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or anticipate Ph.D. completion by August 2018. Post-doctoral research experience is preferred.

Candidates should be strongly committed to excellence in scholarly research and undergraduate and graduate teaching and learning. The successful candidate will maintain an active program of research; apply for external sponsored funding; teach, advise, mentor and supervise the research of undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students; and participate in department-, school- and university-level service activities. Salary and benefits are nationally competitive.
