The University of North Texas (UNT), Department of Social Work invites application for a nine-month tenure track position at the assistant professor rank, expected to begin early August 2018. UNT recently launched a Joint Masters Social Work (JMSW) program in partnership with Texas Woman’s University (TWU), the first of its kind in Texas. The successful candidate for this new assistant professor position will have primary duties in the JMSW program.

We seek candidates with an entrepreneurial spirit to provide creative, engaged instruction in graduate social work courses, pursue an active and collaborative research agenda, and contribute to the ongoing development and administration of the JMSW program. The successful candidate will be teaching in an advanced generalist curriculum across traditional and online/hybrid classrooms. There will be ample opportunity to shape the new JMSW program, add value to the existing curriculum, and create lifelong learning opportunities for social work practice communities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program and have a minimum of two years of full-time professional post-MSW practice experience. A Ph.D. degree in social work or a related field is required. The potential to establish a strong research record and/or to attract extramural funding is expected. The successful candidate will participate in CSWE’s accreditation process.

The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit – and takes actions to prevent – discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices. The University of North Texas System immediately investigates and takes remedial action when appropriate.

The University of North Texas System also takes actions to prevent retaliation against individuals who oppose a discriminatory practice, file a charge, or testify, assist or participate in an investigative proceeding or hearing.
