This position provides psychological services to the University of St. Thomas community on the Minneapolis campus. These services include assessment, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, consultation, and outreach programming.
Conduct assessments and intake sessions, provide individual and group psychotherapy, and crisis intervention services to students.Maintain records and case notes in keeping with legal, ethical, and professional standards of care. Communicate with referral resources and other providers as needed. Adhere to CAPS policies and procedures.Provide outreach and consultation services to UST community including students, faculty, and staff. Serve on UST, Student Affairs, and CAPS committees.Maintain involvement in appropriate professional organizations. Maintain Minnesota licensure by completing the requisite continuing education.Perform administrative tasks as assigned, including participation in staff meetings and case consultation, writing reports, collecting and analyzing client data.
Completed doctoral degree or master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or closely related fieldThree (3) years of professional counseling experience to include providing individual and group counseling, outreach and consultation.Must be licensed to practice independently in the state of Minnesota as a psychologist, social worker, or counselor
Knowledge of theories of personality, development, and human behavior Ability to accurately assess mental health, including suicidality and dangerousness Case conceptualization skills, treatment planning and psychological intervention methods to assist clients in meeting mental health goals Multicultural competencies and ability to work effectively with clients from various ethnic, racial, gender, sexual orientation, religious and/or spiritual backgrounds, age or disability status Ability to react effectively to crisis situations and adapt with flexibility to changes in workload Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to a wide variety of constituents, including veterans, parents, faculty, administrators, medical, psychological, and psychiatric personnel Commitment to the Catholic mission of UST and sensitivity to the unique spiritual and/or religious concerns of UST Students
